Double Tap
The Journalist Who Took Over A Whole Country
For two unforgettable days, Tbilisi became the centre of global football conversation as Fabrizio Romano, the world’s most influential football journalist, visited Georgia.
Brought to life by Double Tap and Sports Orient. Fabrizio Romano collaborated with eight amazing local partners. These include the Embassy of Italy in Tbilisi, Adjarabet Arena, Bakhmaro, Nabeghlavi, Silk Hospitality, Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel Tbilisi, Telegraph, and TKTGE. Romano’s trip combined cultural exchange, knowledge sharing, and pure passion for the beautiful game.

It all kicked off at the Italian Embassy, where Ambassador Massimiliano D’Antuono gave Fabrizio a warm welcome. Surrounded by football agents, managers, and industry leaders, the mood was clear. This trip is more than just travel; it is a true exchange of ideas and energy.
Romano then spoke with Georgian sports journalists. He shared his journey in football journalism and answered many questions. Otar Giorgadze, the Media Manager of the Georgian national team, led the session. It provided useful insights into sports media and the quick transfer market.
Later, he joined an exciting football panel at the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel. Students, fans, and locals discussed Georgia’s football success.
They discussed the performance of Georgian players abroad and the upcoming 2025 transfer window. They also looked at modern trends in global football. Moderated by Ako Akhalaia, the panel reflected the power of football to inspire and unite.
“It’s been a pleasure to spend two days in Tbilisi, have the chance to share my experience as a journalist, getting all the feedback from football fans… and visiting a beautiful, passionate country with special people welcoming me. I’ve immediately felt your passion for the game since the first minute there. Thanks for warm welcome!”
Two days of important discussions and connections had a significant impact. This was true for Fabrizio Romano and the Georgian football community.
